Prosper is Hosting a P2P Lending Summit

October 28, 2011 By Peter Renton 5 Comments

On Thursday of next week (November 3rd at 5pm Pacific) Prosper is hosting what it is calling a “P2P Lending Performance Measurement Summit”. It will be a webinar that will discuss the need for a performance measurement standard for the p2p lending industry.

Prosper is bringing in the heavy-hitters for this webinar. Attendees will hear from CEO Chris Larsen, EVP of Risk Management Jim Catlin and Chief Investment Officer Joe Toms. Here is what they will be discussing:

1) Consumer credit industry standards for measuring risk performance: the practice of analyzing loan vintages
2) Why Prosper reports Seasoned Returns, and why we think this measure is important
3) How p2p lending investors measure risk vis-à-vis return
4) Call for an industry standard on measuring p2p lending returns, and what Prosper is doing about it

By pure coincidence I will be in San Francisco next week (visiting both Lending Club and Prosper) so I will be attending this webinar in person. Should be interesting – you can sign up for it here.

[Update: Prosper has changed the registration for this webinar – it will now have video and the new registration is here.]

If you are a Prosper investor you have probably received an email about it already. If not, then I guess you know about it now. Prosper is hosting a free webinar for investors this Thursday, August 18 at 11am PDT (2pm EDT) to discuss the role of social lending as an investment alternative amid volatile financial markets.

You can read all the details on Prosper’s blog post published earlier today. Two of the top executives at Prosper will be conducting the webinar: Jim Catlin, the Chief Risk Officer and Joseph Toms, the Chief Investment Officer. This will be a unique opportunity for investors to hear from and ask questions of the senior managers at Prosper.

I will be attending this webinar and I hope you will consider it as well. You don’t have to be a Prosper investor to attend. Here is the link to register for it on Gotomeeting.

Announcing the P2P Investor Q&A Webinar

July 1, 2011 By Peter Renton 17 Comments

Every day I receive emails from readers with questions about peer to peer lending. Many of these questions turn into blog posts. But I have written over 100 blog posts now and I know that not everyone has the time to sift through all those old blog posts looking for an answer to their question.

So, I have decided to hold a free webinar. Here I will deal with all the common questions at one time. The focus will be on investor questions, I may do something for borrowers another time. I am also working on putting together a more extensive program that I will announce at the end of the webinar. Here are the details of the free webinar:

When: Thursday, July 14, 2011
Time: 6pm – 7pm Mountain Time
How: Gotomeeting.com Webinar

I have created a signup page here. You will also notice a bar running at the top of the screen here promoting the webinar. That will stay there until July 14th.

Space will be limited, I can only take 100 people, and seeing that it is free I expect it will fill up quickly. So, if you want to guarantee your spot then register now. And if you have specific questions you want answered let me know in the comments. I have still not finalized the entire webinar so I will try and address your questions.
