The Center for Financial Services Innovation (CFSI) and JPMorgan Chase have announced the launch of their third annual Financial Solutions Lab (FinLab); the FinLab challenge provides support for fintech companies developing innovative solutions targeting the financial health of overlooked populations; the FinLab is currently taking applications and will announce its winners at the EMERGE Forum 2017; FinLab winners receive $250,000 and support from FinLab advisers and partners. The recent funding of Greenlight Financial Technology is part of a recent trend that has financial services firms as of all sizes focusing on education; according to the Center for Financial Services Innovation 57 percent of Americans are financially unhealthy; one of the biggest issues financial education has had is that it’s hard to define; companies have been trying to offer different types of education through online courses and other tools that help customers to better understand their full financial situation; fintech companies are not the only one’s offering such services, big banks like JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo have recently added focused products and tools to help customers. Google Play has created a guide for developers focused on fintech financial health apps; the guide was created in partnership with the Center for Financial Services Innovation and specifically its Financial Solutions Lab; the guide provides best practices for developing financial health focused apps for Android and distributing them through Google Play; Google Play is also featuring a page with financial health apps.
