Shortage of Data Scientists has Firms Looking at Crowdsourcing

According to data from LinkedIn there are more than 150,000 data scientist jobs that employers were unable to fill; the shortage of workers has financial firms looking at crowdsourcing as a potential option; American Bankers looks at two hedge funds working on this solution; Quantopian and Numerai crowdsource ideas from data scientists around the world; the funds use contents or tournaments to have individuals build models that forecasts an idea; without knowing the performance of the funds it is hard to know how effective this idea can be.
