Prosper P2P Lending Special $104 promotionIf you are thinking about investing in Prosper but haven’t done so yet then today is your lucky day. For new investors Prosper is giving away $104 for the first 200 investors who signup today. But don’t do it right now, this promotion doesn’t officially start until 12 noon Pacific time today.

This is free money people. All you have to do is complete the registration process and invest your $104 in notes within 14 days.

You don’t even have to invest your own money, just sign-up and use their $104 to invest in notes. Here is the link again to get your bonus.

I just put some new money to work at Prosper this month, so I fully endorse this offer.

So, for those of you on the fence about peer to peer lending, take the plunge today and see how the $104 performs for you. You have nothing to lose. But set an alarm for noon Pacific time. I think this promotion will be over within 30 minutes.

[Update: This promotion is now over – it lasted all of 53 minutes.]

Thanks Ravi. That reminds me, in the interests of full disclosure, I should mention I do get a small commission from Prosper for everyone I refer to them for this promotion. Regardless of whether you use my link or not, this is a great promotion for new investors looking to make a start in p2p lending.

This should work well. This kind of promotion is what got me hooked on amazon. They gave me $30 a few years ago and I’ve been shopping there ever since.

Any word on how many people signed up?

It will be interesting to see how it goes. These kinds of promotions could prompt many people who are on the fence to open accounts or it could just get a bunch of freeloaders who want some free money. Most likely some of both. Either way, in the short term they get to fund some more loans this way.

Even if it’s 100% freeloaders, which may be damn close to the actual number, $21k is pretty inexpensive advertising for the amount of publicity/exposure they received.

@Dan, Good point. And it is better in many ways than spending $21K on Google or Facebook ads because they are guaranteed to get 200 new accounts out of it. Be interesting to see if it is repeated in some form soon.
