Prosper Giving a Special Loan Deal for Veterans

November 11, 2011 By Peter Renton 2 Comments

In honor of Veterans Day Prosper is running a promotion right now for veterans who are looking to take out a loan.

Here is the deal. For any veteran or active duty military personnel who successfully take out a loan on Prosper between now and November 15th (next Tuesday) Prosper will do two things:

1. Make the second payment on the loan up to a value of $250.
2. Donate $50 to the National Military Family Association.

There is fine print, of course. Basically, you need to have a valid military id and not have posted a loan on Prosper in the last 30 days. All the details are on this page. (In the interests of full disclosure the above links are affiliate links and I will get a small commission if you obtain a loan through these links.)

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the Veterans on this special day. Your sacrifices are truly appreciated.

It’s been about two weeks since I failed to get a person to person loan. But It’s funny that I received an email honoring Veterans with a discounted loan deal that may have helped me a couple weeks when I was turned down because my credit score is about 15 points too low to qualify. I’ve been a 100 % service connected veteran for a little over 30 years but cringe when other people say “thanx for your service” because I feel that the pleasure was all mine. The military afforded me a chance to help my siblings back home while letting me serve in one of the most beautiful burgs in East Anglia. I wouldn’t change my service for anything.

This should be a lesson to the two Americans with good credit. Guard your credit as if it were your life. LOL

@Domestic Diva, I completely agree with your last point. A good credit score can be worth so much to a person. Not just less expensive loans but access to a loan in the first place. Few people spend enough time and effort looking after their credit score. But it is one thing that can make a huge difference to your financial life.
