During the week I share the latest p2p lending news on Twitter as it happens. Then every Saturday I take the most interesting news items and blog posts from the past week and share them here.

Exclusive: Ron Suber on Creating a P2P Investor Base from Scratch from LendingMemo – Great interview with Ron Suber, President of Prosper, about their success over the past 18 months.

Revisiting Roll Rates using Markov Chains from Orchard – A detailed statistical analysis of roll rates (late loans going more late).

Paypal: the newest member of the UK Alternative Finance Lending Market from AltFi – Paypal is expanding its small business lending operation from the US to the UK.

Dealstruck Boosts Executive Bench with New Hires from Dealstruck – The small business p2p lender has made some key executive hires recently.

P2P Lending – Average nominal interest rates in Q2 2014 from Wiseclerk – A really interesting chart comparing the average interest rates at many of the major p2p lenders.

Marketplace Lending Interview with Peter Renton of LendAcademy from LendLayer – My interview with the co-founder of a new p2p lending startup, LendLayer, that I will be reviewing shortly.

My P2P Lending Returns (13.02%) – Lending Club June 2014 from Peer & Social Lending – The quarterly report on Lending Club returns from popular blogger Ryan Lichtenwald.

One Cool Tip to See What Prosper Loans Got Funded from P2P Lending Advice – Prosper, like Lending Club, registers every loan it makes with the SEC and that provides quite a bit of detail for investors.

From the Lend Academy Forum

The Lend Academy forum is where investors go to discuss p2p lending. Below are some topics that were being discussed this week.

Where are all the high quality loans? – The kinds of loans that make it to the platforms differ based on the target population for their marketing.

Have I found the Holy Grail of filters? (Nickelsteamroller) – Discussion of one investor’s filtering approach for Lending Club.

Options if you are NOT an accredited investor – There are still very limited options available today to non-accredited investors.

    Peter,

I was hoping that you’d have some comments on this article posted this week: https://www.abalert.com/headlines.php?hid=191848.

The sources are non-existent but with the claims the article makes being so significant I’m wondering what your thoughts are?

I did see that article just as I was about to publish my weekend news. For articles like this I prefer to do some background work before including them here. It turns out that the author has not spoken to anyone at Prosper and is basing his/her claims on information from third parties. So, I decided not to include this item in my news roundup.

If anything substantial comes to light here I will be sure to cover it on the blog.
