During the week I share the latest p2p lending news on Twitter as it happens. Then every Saturday I take the most interesting news items and blog posts from the past week and share them here.

In this first full week of 2014 there were so many great articles published about p2p lending I had to pare down the list. Here is my top 10 most interesting articles from the week.

Borrowers Hit Social-Media Hurdles from The Wall Street Journal – I know not everyone subscribes to the Wall Street Journal but to me this was the most important article of the week showing how the underwriting of borrowers is changing.

Loan Quality for 2013: Prosper from Orchard – Despite the dramatic increase in loan volume the quality of borrowers at Prosper has slightly improved in recent months.

What is Peer to Peer Lending? – Whiteboard #1 from LendingMemo – A great introductory video that you can send to your friends who have never heard of p2p lending.

Peer-to-Peer Lending: Ready to Grow, Despite a Few Red Flags from Knowledge@Wharton – A detailed article about the current state of p2p lending although there were a couple of minor inaccuracies.

Ron Suber: Prosper Keynote Presentation, CrowdFinance 2013 from YouTube (video) – Prosper’s Ron Suber gives the closing keynote at the CrowdFinance in December with an impromptu introduction from yours truly.

P2P lending service Renrendai handed $130 million from Tech in Asia – The Chinese p2p lending market is hot right now demonstrated by this huge equity investment.

From the Lend Academy Forum

The Lend Academy forum is where investors go to discuss p2p lending. Below are some topics that were being discussed this week.

“Now Current” notes at ever-increasing discounts – Are there less buyers on Folio lately leading to lower prices?

BlueVestment Offering Free Auto-Invest – Bluevestment, an auto-invest service for Lending Club investors, has switched to a free service.
