Patreon Gets into Lending to Creators

Patreon is a popular platform for creators to receive support from their fans; the company has now launched Patreon Capital, offering loans to their customers; according to reports they have already made about a dozen micro-loans; the move adds a new revenue stream to Patreon beyond the fee structure currently in place; Patreon also has the benefit of access to data on all of the creators on the platform, allowing them to better underwrite the loans; one example provided was a $75,000 cash advance to support the production budget for a series.
