Lloyds Continues Job Cuts in Branches

Lloyds is cutting 780 roles across their branch network; the cut amounts to almost one in 16 of branch-based workers; the jobs affect customer advisers, banking consultants and bank managers; the overall impact is small given Lloyds has 70,000 employees but shows the continued transition of branch based banking; a spokeswoman stated, ”As customers are using our branches less often, we are reducing the number of roles across our branch network. This means we can shape our service according to customer behaviour and local demand. Change does mean difficult decisions and we are focused on supporting our colleagues at this time.” The bank recently announced a 26% decline in annual profits. The Guardian
