How Some Banks are Thinking Outside the Box During the Crisis

American Banker put together a list of banks thinking outside the box during the current crisis to better help customers; Trustar Bank in Virginia is donating 10 percent of fees earned from the Paycheck Protection Program to local area facilities to help fight the virus; Citi plans to donate PPP profits to community development financial institutions and small businesses; financial education provider Operation Hope has added counselors and is on pace to a record number of clients this year; Laurel Road now offers specialized pricing on its student loan refinancing product to all doctors, dentists, physician assistants and nurses; CIT Group has helped clients in the clothing and furniture business transform into suppliers of personal protective equipment; many banks have been in the news for bad behavior during the crisis, but as you can see from these examples there is plenty of good happening in the banking industry.
