The month of April is designated as financial literacy month to “highlight the importance of financial literacy and teach Americans how to establish and maintain healthy financial habits”; however research shows that financial literacy programs don’t work as it doesn’t lead to knowledge gain and doesn’t change behavior; some believe it is potentially insulting trying to push the idea that knowledge and behavior are the main causes of financial hardship; many people are fully aware of their financial problems and report them as a common stressor; Jennifer Tescher, the President & CEO of CFSI shares her thoughts on how to solve this problem.
