Several online small business lenders that we have spoken with this week are seeing record requests for credit as small businesses struggle to stay afloat; so we thought it would be interesting to revisit the LendIt keynote session with Karen Mills, the former head of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), from last year; she talked about the innovations over the last several years in small business lending and how fintech has been showing traditional banks the way; she was head of the SBA during the financial crisis and she talked about the changes the government made back then to help small business whether the storm; she shared some of the learnings from her recent book and how small business owners have more financial information available to them today than ever before.
