FBI Warns Hackers Are Targeting Mobile Banking Apps

As the world has moved to mobile banking in the last three months hackers are moving there as well; in a public service announcement yesterday the FBI warned that hackers are using a variety of techniques to exploit new mobile banking customers; banking trojans involve a malicious virus that hides on a mobile device until a banking app is downloaded and then tricks the user into providing their banking login details; the FBI recommends that Americans only download apps from official app stores and then also enable two-factor authentication as well as strong passwords; the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center has been receiving between 3,000 and 4,000 cybersecurity complaints a day, up from 1,000 complaints a day before the pandemic.
