Chime Closes in on $300mn in Fresh Capital

American Banker reports that digital banking startup Chime is close to raising $300mn in fresh capital; DST Global is said to lead the round and the final number could change as they get near closing; the company was last valued at $500mn in May 2018, the new round would value the startup at more than $1.5bn; this is part of a bigger trend of big rounds for digital banking startups as investors believe there is room to disrupt traditional banks.
