Banks and Fintechs Look for Regulator Clarity on Data Sharing

While most companies are looking for further deregulation they are increasingly looking towards regulators for more clarity on data sharing; Jo Ann Barefoot, CEO of Barefoot Innovation Group and a former deputy comptroller of the currency tells American Banker “Policymakers need to explore it and allow some breathing room for some experimentation and testing of these ideas.”; there have been various ideas put into market though most are voluntary and regulators have not moved forward on any set of rules; one of the biggest sticking points is who will take blame for when an incident occurs, resolving this key point could go a long way in setting up a framework.
