Renaud Laplanche Interviewed on CNBC Today

by Peter Renton on March 14, 2013

This morning Lending Club CEO Renaud Laplanche appeared on CNBC’s Squawk on the Street program. The interview was conducted live from CNBC’s New York Stock Exchange studio.

No real surprises in the interview but it is another step on the path to p2p lending becoming mainstream. You can watch the video below or on CNBC’s site here.

Nice… that guy doing the interview was either asking dumb questions for the audience or really didn’t do his research ahead of time. I wished RL had a chance to respond to the comment about not knowing the person you were investing in. Of course you’re not going to be able to call your lendee up, but you’ve got a pretty good profile of who you’re investing in, which is all that really matters.

Most of these commentators on the major financial programs are pretty clueless about p2p. I don’t think they do much research ahead of time.

Starting a completely new industry in financial services is not a simple thing. But there is a lot of momentum now and I think we will see p2p grow very quickly for the next several years.
